Completing and submitting the FAFSA gives you access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college or career school.  Even if you feel your family income is too high to qualify for student aid, you should apply for the FAFSA.  Many factors are taken into account.  College and private scholarships may not even consider you until you’ve completed the FAFSA.

Ten Tips for Writing College Scholarship Applications

Scholarship committees like essays because they are able to get a better sense of who the applicants really are from reading their original writing than from simply looking at a form or seeing a listing of completed classes and grades.  Scholarships can be a major source of college funding if you are willing to put your time into it.  Have your parents or mentors read your scholarship essay and applications to make sure they convey the message the donor wants for their scholarship recipient.

If you are fortunate enough to be rewarded a scholarship remember to send a thank you note to the donor.  They are making a major investment in your future.
